Your Data, Your Control

saum.app is built with privacy as a core principle. We collect only what is strictly necessary to provide the service, and we never sell, share, or monetise your data.

What We Collect

Account info — username, email, and a securely hashed password (bcrypt). We never store your password in plain text.
Location — city, country, and coordinates you provide (for prayer times and Qibla). We do not track your location in the background.
Tracking data — fasting logs, mood, workouts, taraweeh, reflections, and other daily entries you choose to record.
Push subscription — if you enable notifications, we store the browser push endpoint to send prayer reminders. You can disable this at any time.

What We Don't Do

Anonymous analytics only (Google Analytics, no personal data collected)
No advertising or ad networks
No selling or sharing data with third parties
No background location tracking
No cookies beyond session authentication

Third-Party Services

Aladhan API — for prayer time calculations (receives your coordinates, not your identity)
alquran.cloud — for Quran text and translations (no personal data sent)
cdn.islamic.network — for Quran audio recitations (no personal data sent)
OpenStreetMap Nominatim — for city search during location setup (receives search query only)

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in an encrypted SQLite database on our server. Sessions use secure, HTTP-only cookies with SameSite protection. All connections use HTTPS encryption. CSRF tokens protect against cross-site request forgery.

Data Deletion

You can request complete deletion of your account and all associated data using the feedback form in Settings. We will process deletion requests within 7 days.
